Frequently asked questions
- How accurate is IP geolocation?
- Country-level results are usually correct because registries assign blocks nationally. City-level results are estimates and can be off, especially for mobile carriers, VPN exits, and large cloud providers.
- What is an ASN?
- An autonomous system number identifies the network operator that owns the IP block, such as an ISP or cloud provider. Knowing the ASN tells you who to contact about routing or abuse issues.
- Can two domains share an IP address?
- Yes. Shared hosting and CDNs serve many domains from one address. The lookup shows the network owner, but reverse DNS and certificate records reveal which hostnames live there.
